About Peak Ranch Alpacas and our Boutique
We are a family owned and operated alpaca ranch and boutique that have been enjoying the alpaca lifestyle for 8 years. We specialize in producing alpacas with longevity of fineness to their bright and dense fleeces. Have questions about the alpaca lifestyle? We have answers and love to talk alpaca!
The alpacas simply graze and grow us their lovely fleece which we shear annually in June. We have professional shearers from New Zealand come to our ranch and shear them. They are careful with each alpaca and shear each quickly as to reduce any stress. They reproduce "cria" 1 at a time and the gestation is 11 1/2 months. We provide them fresh water, orchard grass hay and some supplement in the morning and evening. The alpacas are cared for by our whole family and cleanup and management is about 1 1/2 hours a day for our herd of 30.
We began our Alpaca Boutique in 2008 and it has been growing rapidly. Everything in our boutique is made from the finest alpaca fleece.
Our herd's fleeces are milled in Kiowa, CO (Spring Too Fibers) and then sold in our boutique. We have a variety of natural colors or dyed baby alpaca.
The alpaca garments are carefully selected by Rene. She looks for quality, ultra fine alpaca garments that are classic to modern in style. Both Dennis and Rene have traveled to Peru in efforts to meet alpaca clothing designers and manufacturers. Thus, allowing the attention to detail to show in each garment. Rene has personally designed a couple of items in their boutique.
The addition of our felting workshop was completed in 2009. Rene teaches resist or wet felting classes seasonally and with the new classroom, can now have as many as 8 students attend her felting class. We love to inspire fiber arts and felting is so unique to each persons inner artist. The classes give instructions on how to make hats, purses, wine coolers or scarves. Check our homepage for class dates & details.
